2-Day Tanzania Safari Tour to Tarangire and Ngorongoro (From Arusha)

Day 1: Tarangire National Park & Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Early Morning:

  • Pick-up from Arusha:
    • Our guide will pick you up from your your accommodation around 7:00 AM.
    • Drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). Enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Masai Steppe.

Late Morning:

  • Arrive at Tarangire National Park:
    • Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. You’ll begin your game drive as soon as you enter the park, with excellent opportunities to spot elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, and a variety of bird species.
    • The park is also home to lions, cheetahs, and leopards, so be on the lookout for predators!

Afternoon:

  • Picnic Lunch in Tarangire:
    • You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, either at a designated picnic spot or at a nearby lodge, depending on the safari package.
  • Afternoon Game Drive in Tarangire:
    • After lunch, continue your game drive, exploring different parts of the park, including areas around the Tarangire River where animals gather for water. You’ll also visit the swamps where you might spot various animals.

Late Afternoon:

  • Drive to Ngorongoro Crater:
    • After a fantastic afternoon of wildlife viewing, you’ll drive towards Ngorongoro Crater (approximately 3 hours), passing through scenic highlands.
    • Enjoy views of the Ngorongoro Highlands as you ascend toward the crater rim.

Evening:

  • Check-in to Lodge:
    • Arrive at your lodge at the Ngorongoro Safari Lodge. 
    • Enjoy a delicious dinner with stunning views.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Safari & Return to Arusha

Early Morning:

  • Descend into Ngorongoro Crater:
    • After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. The crater is home to an abundance of wildlife, including the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and black rhinos). It's one of the best places in the world to see the Big Five in one day.
    • The crater floor is rich in animals, with large populations of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and hyenas. The flamingos at Lake Magadi are also a highlight, along with the chance to spot cheetahs, jackals, and hippopotamuses.

Midday:

  • Picnic Lunch in the Crater:
    • Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the scenic spots within the crater, often at Ngoitoktok Springs, where you’ll have views of flamingos and other birdlife.

Afternoon:

  • Final Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater:
    • After lunch, continue your game drive, visiting different areas like the Gorigor Swamps or Lerai Forest for more wildlife viewing.
  • Ascend the Crater and Drive Back to Arusha:
    • After your final game drive, you’ll ascend the crater and begin the drive back to Arusha (approximately 3 hours).

Late Afternoon/Evening:

  • Arrive in Arusha:
    • You’ll arrive back in Arusha in the late afternoon or evening. If you need to catch a flight or are staying at a hotel, your guide will drop you off at your hotel or Arusha Airport.
